Synopsis

Jada McLean is about to get married in nine days, when she walks in on her fiancĂ© in a little more than a compromising position. Days later, she’s on a trip that she intends to be relaxing and a prelude to her fresh start, when she runs into the rude, obnoxious, but gorgeous Jonathan Kole.

Jonathan Kole is San Francisco’s newest District Attorney. When he finds himself deeply attracted to a stunning beauty, he has no idea that she’s about to get into BIG trouble with the law—and he’ll be the one presiding over her trial. To make matters worse, his father is the lawyer representing her in the high-profile case.

When a series of events force them together over New Year’s weekend, Jonathan’s feelings and ethics will come into question, while Jada comes to terms with the fact that she is falling for the man that will be responsible for attempting to put her behind bars… Little do they know, they're both about to fall into a whirlwind so deep, it will send both their lives spiraling out of control.

My Review

This book was not what I expected…it was so much better. It was filled with lies, betrayal, kidnapping, murder, forbidden love…and the list could go on. Love, Lies & the D.A. sucks you in from the very beginning and keeps you wondering and questioning everything that is happening page after page. Just when you think you have something figured out Rebecca Rohman goes and adds another twist to the story and keeps you asking yourself: What in the heck is going on?

Over 450 pages and I never once found myself getting bored or wishing the story would move along faster.

After Jada McLean finds her fiancé and her best friend having sex on her desk in her home office she calls off the wedding and decides to take a vacation. Her so called vacation turns into a few of the worst possible months of her life and has her questioning everything she thought she knew about her life and herself.

Her only saving grace comes in the form of a rude, cocky, arrogant and entitled D.A. named Johnathan Kole. People don’t talk back or argue (unless it’s in the courtroom) to Johnathan Kole…at least until Jada’s self-assured, independent and smart mouthed self comes strutting into the hotel lobby. Johnathon can’t help but be annoyed and turned on all at the same time.

After a few chance meetings Johnathan wants nothing more than to get to know the beautiful Jada better. However, his job as the D.A. and Jada’s new list of crimes being pinned against her are preventing them from really exploring what it is going on between them...but that doesn't mean they don't try.

This book takes you on one crazy adventure after another. Just when you think things can’t get worse…they do.

This was the first book I have read from Rebecca Rohman and definitely will not be the last. Her writing will hold you captive from the very first until the very last page. She has an amazing ability to make you feel involved with the characters and awake every emotion in you through her writing.

Next time you are looking for a book mixing a little business with pleasure be sure to read Love, Lies & the D.A. You will not be disappointed.

Cover Reveal & Giveaway SWEET TEMPTATION (Men of Honor #2) by K.C. Lynn

Title: Sweet Temptation (Men of Honor, #2)
Author: K.C. Lynn
Genre: NA Contemporary Romance
Expected Release Date: June 2014

Synopsis

“If you could go back and change one moment in your life what would it be?” I expect him to say the week the three of them were held prisoner, but what he says next is something that I will remember for the rest of my life.

“It would be to find you sooner, because I would have never let anyone hurt you.”

And that was the moment I gave Sawyer Evans my whole heart.

***

At 17 years old Grace Morgan had managed to live through what would be the worst day of her life. One would think this is where her torment ended, but then she was sent to live with him- the devil himself.

Three years later she finds herself in the beautiful, small town of Sunset Bay, South Carolina - a perfect place to start her life over. This is where she meets the best friends she will ever have, and one cocky, sexy, arrogant ex-Navy Seal whose heart turns out to be bigger than his ego. Right when things start looking up the worst day of her life comes back with a vengeance; ruining the peace she had just found.

Sawyer Evans is a strong, sexy, confident ex-Navy Seal who loves women just as much as they love him. His philosophy is: the more the merrier, with no strings attached. But all that changes the day he rolls into Sunset Bay, where he meets a sweet, sexy blonde with sad amber eyes, who smells like cupcakes and bakes the most delicious pies. The only girl who isn’t affected by his good looks and charm...or so he thinks.

But Sawyer is a fighter who is used to getting what he wants, and he wants Grace. Along the way of making that happen, he finds out she holds secrets, and a pain much deeper than he thought possible- and he has known pain like no other man has.

A year ago he made a life-altering decision that not only bought him a week in hell with men he considers his brothers, but also ended his career. It was a decision he will never regret, no matter the scars he bares, physically or emotionally. He refused to let that moment in his life break him or define him.

So when Grace’s life is threatened, he will make another decision, one to not only protect her, but also mend her broken heart.

This is a New Adult Romance and is told from both character’s pov. Due to strong sexual content, coarse language and mature subject matter this book is not suitable for anyone under the age of 18.

This is Book Two in the Men Of Honor series. If you like hot, tattooed, possessive alpha males than this is the book for you.

Sweet Temptation - Excerpt

I smile now, thinking about him and Cade at a younger age, “How long have you been friends with Cade?”

His easy smile returns, “Since the first day of second grade. We were the most unlikely duo. I was a kid from a good family who had money, and well... let’s just say Cade was the opposite. One day, after school, three older kids were picking on him at the playground, so I walked up and beat the shit out of all three of them. I saved his life. After that he followed me around everywhere I went. No matter what I did I couldn’t get rid of him, so I thought: ah what the hell, I’ll be his friend.”

I stare at him a second before I burst out laughing, “You’re lying!”

He looks at me, affronted, “I am not! You should have seen me baby, I kicked major ass.”

I shake my head and continue to laugh, knowing he’s lying. “Ok, ok, it was actually the other way around, but don’t judge Cupcake I was small for my age, believe it or not. I didn't get all this until closer to junior high.”

I have a hard time picturing Sawyer small for his age, considerin’ what a giant he is now. “So you followed Cade around till he became your friend?”

“Wouldn't you?” he asks looking at me like I’m crazy, “the guy kicked the shit out of all three of those fuckers for trying to steal my new Pumas. I decided right there that this guy was going to be my friend, and I was gonna bring him everywhere I went, which I did. At first he tried acting like he didn’t want to be my friend, but of course it didn’t take long before he realized I wasn’t going anywhere. In the end he decided to give in, and we have been best friends ever since.”

With a big smile I wrap my arms around his neck, “That’s a great friendship story. I’m glad y’all met, and he was able to save your Pumas for you.”

Sawyer grins, “Me too baby. My mom had just bought those for me, she would have been pissed.”

I giggle again, but it fades as I tread into darker territory, “Can I ask you somethin’?”

“Anything Cupcake.”

“How did Cade’s sister die?” His expression turns to stone, his eyes cold and hard. I immediately regret asking. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have asked.”

He shakes his head, as if pulling himself out of some sort of turmoil, “No it’s fine. It’s just... I have never told another soul this story, but I will tell you. You can’t ever bring it up to Cade though, ok? Because it’s something that will send him right over the fucking edge; it’s why he never talks about it.”

My stomach turns to lead and I swallow nervously, knowing what Sawyer is about to tell me is probably going to be the most awful thing I will ever hear in my life.

My Review

This is a story about Grief, Pain, Second Chances, Lies and Love.

The story begins with Mags and her best friend Cali getting ready for their first adventure into the new world of college Greek life. At the first night of the fraternity rush Mags and Cali meet Randy, Walker and Mitch they all become fast friends but Mags and Randy become closer than just friends.

And then you are fast forwarded 5 years into the present, Mags and Randy had gotten married and had a very loving relationship filled with fun, laughter, and many happy memories.  But Randy joined the military as a paratrooper and a his chute didn't open on a mission and he died.

Mags struggles to come to terms with losing Randy and everyday is a struggle just to get out of bed.

"I longed to run away and hide from life for the rest of the day. It was a terrible coping mechanism I had developed, but it was effective." - Mags

Walker met Randy freshman year at college and have been best friends ever since. He has always been close to Randy and Mags and has been beside them through all of their fun times. Walker was with Randy on the mission Randy never came home from.

"Walker was my most frequent visitor, pretty much like clockwork.  Every Sunday at noon, I expected to see his bright green eyes light up when I opened my door.  He was going through his own process of grief and loss.  I think he needed the company as much as I did."- Mags

After Walker and Mags start spending a lot of time together Mags start noticing that when Walker is around she gets butterflies and starts noticing how good looking he is.  But soon after those feelings, guilt engulfs her and she feels horrible for thinking these things about her dead husbands best friend.

Mags starts seeing a therapist to help her grieve and move on and soon starts to come out of her shell and starts acting like the girl she use to be, she has girl weekends, hangs our with Walker and Mitch just like old times and starts dressing up and looking after her appearance again.  Her and Walker start to get closer and closer and the lines start to get blurred, but with every step forward another memory of Randy drags her back and her guilt assaults her again.

"Walker shook his head and then smiled amiably.  "It just makes me sad that every time I make you smile, it's followed by a look of pain, sadness or disgust." - Walker

Walker struggles with his feeling through this book, he loves Mags and wants more than friendship but also feels guilt and knows he can't push Mags too fast.

The ending is a cliffhanger! It broke my heart. I did not see it coming at all. So I am anxiously awaiting the next book.

Now I will explain why I only gave it 3.75 stars.  This story was a 5 star read for me up until 46% but then the story just lost me, it got confusing and the characters emotions were going from one extreme to the next within a few seconds.  I found it hard to connect with Walker he didn't talk much in this story and while what he did say, spoke volumes, I never knew where he stood in situations.  At the beginning Mags was easy to connect with she was grieving and I felt her struggle so much my heart broke for her but as the story progressed her character would go from grieving to happy to hysterical to calm to drunk to freaking out to grieving and happy again and I just couldn't keep up with her.  Also there was some word confusion and situations that didn't make sense to me.

I will still be reading the next book,  I am still eager to see how things turn out for Mags.

My Review

"I need to know you will wait for me... I need to know there is still hope you can love me."

 photo a37e3aab-94e0-4ecc-9059-2e61ec8e037c_zpsd194f815.jpg

The prologue grabbed me straight away and all I wanted to do was get to the end to see what had happened to make them both so hurt and sad.

*********************************************************************************

The story begins with Elyssa getting a new job at Salerno Health, on her way to her first day at the job she see's a man who she thinks is the most gorgeous man she has ever seen. But she has to leave to get to work, but still can't get him out of her head.

Getting to her new job and waiting at the elevators Elyssa looks up and see's none other than the gorgeous man from the gas station. Her new boss, VP, Alexander James. Instantly she feels the spark again and tells herself to calm down she only just met him.

Alex and Elyssa start to spend time together and mysteriously Alex is always there to save the day for Elyssa. But Elyssa is very confused by Alex, at times he is caring and possessive of her and other times he is cold and distant.

"One moment he's looking at me as if I'm prety, and the next he's ordering me around like his servant." - Elyssa

Alex and Elyssa decide to start seeing each other and see where this path will take them. But they have to keep it a secret because they work together. But they are both very insecure in the relationship, being that they have to keep it a secret neither of them can claim the other in a public setting so they are forced to sit back and watch other people flirt with them and are not able to do anything about it. Which drives Alex crazy!!!

"I don't want you seeing him tonight."

"You can't control me, Alex. You can't intimidate me one moment, kiss me the next and then make demands." - Alex & Elyssa

Elyssa and Alex's relationship goes from one extreme to the next, it's non stop drama and jealousy issues. But through all that they fall in love and start opening up to each other.

 photo b942e9b5-c45a-49d8-b711-02cab36f4734_zps36b3424c.jpg

Big secrets are revealed and situations where both Alex and Elyssa are hurt get forgiven. But every time they take one step forward in their relationship outside forces drag them back to struggling to trust each other and hurting each other with not knowing how to cope with their insecurities.

"What do you want to do, Elyssa? You want to hit me? Fucking hit me! get it over with so I can finally talk to you." - Alex

Through all the drama they always find their way back to each other, being without the other isn't living and isn't an option for them. They need each other too much.

 photo 9ced24ea-e8bb-4d39-940b-3c4884a80211_zps9fbeafb7.jpg

Then! BAM! Alex's secret is out and WOW gotta say I didn't see it coming, well I knew half of it but the how and why is OMG! Elyssa is devastated.

"You know before this... I would have stayed with you forever." - Elyssa

Yes there is a cliffhanger, book 2 is out March 3rd 2014.

*******************************************************

Now on being 4 stars and not 5, First reason - the over the top jealousy and this is coming from someone who LOVES jealously and possessive alpha men but almost every page was some sort of jealousy from Elyssa and Alex and the rest of the world seemed to want them as well.

Second, ARGH!!! Elyssa! most frustrating heroine EVER! Her actions regarding the jealousy issues were just the most frustrating thing in the world I wanted to seriously punch something when she would sit at the table with another man have him hold her hand when she knew how crazy Alex got over another man just talking to her let alone sitting there holding her hand, oh and going to lunch with another guy while the man you love is in so much pain I mean, does she love Alex at all!!! Elyssa's character was either very naive or just stupid! I'm going with stupid cos she always worked it out in her head that if Alex did that to her it would hurt her but she still went ahead and freaking did it! Argh! I seriously hate her stupidity! Frustrating heroine is a huge pet peeve of mine so that is why I'm so cranky, I loved the story and the twists but the heroine's stupidity ruined it for me.

What I liked... Alpha male Alex! Loved him! The story never bored me, it kept me interested and I was always eager to turn the page and see what was going to happen.  I liked the twists and Elyssa's sister Rachael.  I loved when Alex and Elyssa were doing well those moments were beautiful and how much they love each other is what made the story for me.

Will I read book 2? Yes I probably will, I've seen the synopsis and I can see the direction it's going to go in and that will probably seriously make me break my kindle this time lol!!!

Synopsis

Jade has worked as a Seductor in a secret organization for five years now. Her main job? To earn the trust of her targets and secure the object or information her company was hired to steal—by any means necessary. She’s damn good at it, too.

With five years left on her contract, she is handed an assignment that turns her world upside down.

Oliver Kirkham is the attractive, young CEO of Kirkham Industries, a weapons manufacturing company, and is currently in possession of some very important blueprints—blueprints that could change the way war, as we know it, works. He’s extremely focused and doesn't have time to date, at least until he comes to the rescue of a shy but very alluring Jade Gibbs.

What happens when one night of passion turns into more? Will Jade allow her feelings for Oliver to get in the way of her mission? Or will she do what she was hired to do and secure the steal?

My Review

"My name is Jade. I am a Seductor, and I can't even explain to you how much I love my job."

Jade's job is to seduce her targets into telling her information she wants or stealing things from them without the targets even realizing she is doing it to them.

Jade's next job is a billionaire called Oliver Kirkham.  Mr Kirkham's company builds weapons and Jade's mission is to copy blueprints that Mr Kirkham has on a hard drive.  Jade needs to get close to Oliver and find out where he would keep this hard drive.

 photo a667d016-e4e0-4a1e-aa15-31725a7ad38b_zps42014666.jpg

Jade sometimes has to sleep with her targets as part of seducing them to get what she wants, and Jade is an expert at it. But no one has ever been able to give Jade the big O in bed.

"My looks helped... a lot. I was your typical perfect blonde with clear blue eye's and legs that went on forever. Men fell for my innocent act, but I was no angel in real life."

Jade makes contact with Oliver and they hit it off straight away, Jade starts working her innocent act and Oliver is eating it up and the next thing you know they are on their way up to his hotel room. But Oliver isn't what Jade was expecting, he is controlling and dominating in the bedroom and sets Jade on fire and she can't help but lose herself with him.

"Wasn't I suppose to be seducing him and not the other way around?"

Jade is shocked Oliver is everything she wants but knows she needs to keep her mind on the mission and not get too close to Oliver. Jade keeps working the job and starts spending time with Oliver and soon finds out possible locations for where she can find the blueprints.

 photo 5c256b5d-5dbe-4cc0-8ba5-f6305632ac9d_zps6b4427c1.jpg

Jade is struggling at doing her job and knowing that she will soon have to betray Oliver and never see him again. Oliver knows Jade is holding back, but he is trying to be patient with her as well as being open in how he feels about her.

"When I touch you, I feel as if I'm on fire. You make me come alive. I'm not just some rich, multi-billionaire boss anymore - I'm just me, and I can't thank you enough for making me feel this way."

Oliver has invited Jade to one of his houses that Jade is positive has the blueprints so Jade realizes that this will probably be their last weekend together.

"I needed to prepare myself for completing my mission and having to say goodbye to Oliver."

Jade arrives at Oliver's family home and meets more of Oliver's family including his father, and Jade struggles even more with Oliver opening up his life to her and Jade realizing she has deep feelings for him. But there are consequences for a Seductor who falls for their target.

'"If you can't obtain it, it will have to be declared a Code One, and you know how those end." Yes, I did - with the target dead so there would be no witnesses.'

Jade complete's her mission and is heart broken. Jade now has to try and move on with her life but how can she do that when Oliver changed everything for her...

'"In another lifetime, I could have loved you and been very happy." He stirred slightly but didn't wake up.'

Yes there is a cliffhanger and it's left open for book 2, Hunger, which is out June 2014! I can't wait to read what's next for Jade and Oliver!

Can Whitney stand strong without succumbing to the demands of her family?

Can Kane let Aimee and the past go in order to move forward with the woman who brought him back to life?

Or will he walk away from her and only ever feel the burden of UNBEARABLE GUILT

My Review

“Nothing is more wretched than the mind of a man conscious of guilt”

WOW WOW WOW! Emma Grayson is one author to watch out for.
I really enjoyed the first book in the series Unbeatifully loved read my review HERE . But Unbearable Guilt… AMAZING!

After losing his fiancé 2 years ago, Kane Archer has been living his life with nothing but pain and guilt. Haunted by the memories of the love of his life and fueled with the mission for revenge, Kane's every waking moment is to seek retribution.

Whitney Jareua, has her own dark past, one that has her running, running away to save herself from a bleak and twisted future. Set up with her new life, she is happy with her friends and work life. A job where she first meets Kane Archer.
With all the gossip about town regarding the sexy as sin Kane, she can't help but feel drawn to him. Feeling a connection like no other, she see's past the rumours and sees more into the withdrawn broody man.

While they play a small game of cat and mouse and after a few instances that put them back in each others lives, they can't stop the pull they feel for each other.

"You're nothing like them, not even fuckin' close - you're what makes sense."

But it's not as simple as that. No, with Kane's demons and mission for revenge, plus twists and turns, this is no easy ride for these two.
You really are rooting for them, but you know their journey is one that must be travelled, pain and hurt included.

"I don't want to see you again, Whitney. This was just...a mistake. It was different when it was just sex, but now I can't do it." "I don't love you. I can't, not ever." "I made a promise, one plan on keeping- there were lines I drew and I crossed them for you, and I just can't do it." Kane.

And while heartbreaking at times, there were really some amazing times between these two.

"Then you entered my world and it wasn't completely black anymore, there was this small flicker of light and it only brighten when I was with you."

But with secrets and the mission still going ahead, what happens when Kane and Whit's past come crashing and weaving its way into their future? Will they be able to fight for each other? Or will the connections they find they have finally pull them apart?

Oh gosh I loved Kane, Love him, tortured and kind and really you can't help but fall in love with him. I loved being in his head and Emma did a great job portraying him. I love love loved Whit. At first I thought I wasn't gonna like her being shy, but boy was that a quick turnaround. I freaking loved her sass. I loved all the secondary characters, can't not wait for Kessel's story. Love his whole team!
And the epilogue… I die DIE people brilliant totally in love with it, love me a good epilogue!
This is definitely a must read, I'm fast becoming a huge fan in Grayson and can't wait for more.

Synopsis

Emily Donovan didn't know love, she didn't know gentle and her future wasn't hers to own. Because HE owned her. There is only so much one soul can take before it is broken beyond repair and she had reached that milestone long ago.

Braiden Montgomery had secrets, secrets that would see a special place in hell reserved just for him. He was trying to make amends, trying to find his own form of redemption when a waif of a girl with jet black hair and pale blue eyes seized his heart.

Emily's soul had been tortured by men like Braiden, so trusting the dark haired Dom would be one of the most difficult things she would ever do. For a man with skills like Braiden, keeping 'Em' safe would be a piece of cake. Bringing her frozen heart back to life might just prove impossible though.

My Review

"My name is Emily Maree Donovan, and I am not a possession, I am a person."

This is Emily's story…..

Stubbon, fearless and full of dreams, a young Emily leaves Claymont to find freedom from all the anger and hurt her parents death caused. But all Em finds on her journey is captivity...

Taken
Broken
Forced
Discarded
Beaten.

BUT then saved..
What happens when the man who saves you, has the power to break you all over again?

Braiden, has his own past and demons he deals with. When he saves Emily, he finds himself feeling things that he shouldn't be. But he can't help feeling more drawn to her the more he becomes to know her. But when Em not only asks, but needs his control, Braiden steps in to take on the roll, but at what cost?

While a part of me hungered for his touch, I was afraid of it, too.

Emily and Braidens story is a slow build in the sense that Emily needs time to heal and grow into the woman that she didn't get to be. And that itself takes time.
Braiden is on a mission to capture the man that broke Emily, and will do anything to find him. Even leaving a struggling Emily behind.

When Braden leaves her, Emily must learn to cope for herself, while she has a rough start, she soon finds her way and a once shy, scared Emily, turns into a strong, angry Em. Then Braiden returns and soon they find themselves fighting the pull between them.

A feeling began to burn deep within my soul, a feeling that made my skin tingle with a new type of awareness. It made my heart beat hard and fast.

Can these two find a HEA with their history? Can Braiden be the man, (he really wants to be) for Emily, and will Emily's Tourtured soul be bought back from the darkness that surrounds her?

I understand sin, Em, I understand what it feels like to be beyond redemption."

Kirsty Dallas is an instant read Author for me, I love her hard. I could NOT wait to get my hands on this one. I knew I would love Braiden but I didn't think I would fall soooo hard.
While the subject matter at times was hard to read, (Emily lives through a tragedy no one she have to go through) Braiden always shined throughout.
He gave Em his strength when she lacked her own. Through Braiden's love, Em was able to break down the barriers and pain that kept her from letting anyone get too close. Emily never knew love could be this way: nurturing, comforting, and safe.

His reluctance to be Em's master made me fall, his passion and patience for her and her doubt made me fall. His sweetness and bossiness made me fall.  This man is astounding! I have such a deep love and respect for him. He really is the epitome of perfect…. AND The Mantra… I DIE !

"I am not a toy to be played with, I am a living soul. I do not need a master because I have the strength to be my own master. I should only be treasured, loved, and protected and I will accept no less. I survived my captivity, and I will continue to survive and fight until my life is my own once more."

What a beautiful and emotional story. I loved every part of it.
Kirsty Dallas once again knocks it out of the park. Definitely a must read!

About the Author

I'm just a little Aussie girl with a big imagination, so much to write and so little time to do it. When I'm not writing (or reading) I am kept smiling and sane (for the most part) by my 5 year old daughter. She is the light in my world. I have a wonderfully supportive family who keep me completely grounded. Trust me, they will never let any success go to my head!! And I love them for it. I enjoy ice cold ciders, barbeques, music and art. I hate cooking, in fact I think I have major kitchen allergies. My feet rarely grace anything other than flip-flops and even in the middle of a hot Aussie summer, I love my jeans!!! To sum me up in a few words (and you know how hard just a few words is for an author) ~ easy going, laid back, dreamy and passionate.

I hope you all love reading my novels as much as I love writing them.

Tricks (Take It Off, #6)

Synopsis

Love can play tricks on your heart… After serving several years in the United States Marine Corps, Sergeant Tucker Patton decides to hang up his uniform and go to work at a private investigative firm owned by his buddy. His boxes are packed and he’s got one foot out the door when a phone call changes everything.

Instead of going to North Carolina, he heads to New York City to literally step into the life of his twin brother, who died under suspicious circumstances. But pretending to be someone else isn’t easy.

Especially when the person you’re supposed to be is wanted dead.
Not only that, but he’s going from being blissfully single to living with his brother’s woman. An uptight, no-nonsense lawyer.

Charlotte Rose Carter doesn’t have time for fun and games. She graduated with honors and made all the right moves fresh out of college to jumpstart her career as a successful young lawyer. She even snagged the most eligible bachelor in New York City’s corporate world.

So what if her and Max’s relationship isn’t burning up the sheets? So what if their life doesn't read like a chapter from a sizzling romance novel? This is the real world, and in the real world that stuff is just fantasy.

Until it isn’t.

Suddenly, just the slightest touch or a single glance from Max has her heart doing somersaults. Suddenly, the lackluster relationship begins to spark, and Charlotte finds herself tied in a knot of desire.

But she has no idea about the tricks being played right under her perky little nose.

My Review

Tucker Patton is leaving the Marine Corps after spending several years in and being shipped off to war two times. He has plans to go to South Carolina and work as a PI with a Marine core buddy and his wife.
He has never settled down and always just goes from one night stand to the next. He's not your romantic and say pretty things kind of guy. He's irresponsible, a charmer with the ladies. He has been distant from his parents and identical twin brother for several years now.
When Tucker is about to take off  to his new life. A black car drives up with 4 FBI agents getting out needing to speak to him asap.

Tucker was not prepared at all for what would happen next.

One of the agents informed him that his brother is dead and that he was murdered.

Part of me was gone.

Ripped away.

Empty.

As Tucker was trying to process what the agent just told him about his twin brother. They explained to him that Maxwell was working with them in a corporate espionage and he was there inside man.

Tucker was surprised to know that his brother would be part of something like this. His brother was polar opposite of him. He was a straight and narrow path kind of guy. Never strayed from his goals and always was hard working. Tucker knew it had to be serious for Maxwell to agree to it.

Tucker started to sense that they were there for another reason.

"We need you to step in where Maxwell left off. To assume the identity of your brother."

It didn't take long for Tucker to answer. He and Maxwell were identical twins and he felt the sense of revenge come over him. He wanted the men to pay for what they did to his brother.

"I'll do it"

Tucker is on his way to NYC and being briefed by the FBI about Maxwell's life so he will know a little bit more about him and to play his role. He is suppose to find a flash drive that Maxwell hid that will expose the corporate espionage. Tucker was prepared to get the job done and get justice for his brother.

As they drop Tucker off at his brothers apartment they drop a bomb on him.

That Maxwell has a girlfriend who lives him.

Charlotte Rose Carter is a successful hard working lawyer. She is very pretty and always gets stereotype for being a blonde. She just made partner at her firm and is proving her spot with them. She has a handsome boyfriend who is successful as well and is her best friend. She is quiet content with their mediocre life. Little did she know that her quiet little world was blowing up in front of her face and things were about to change.

I literally laughed out loud when these two met. It was great! Tucker sneaks into the apartment thinking his "girlfriend" isn't there. Before Tucker knew it he was being tackled to the floor by a woman!

Her legs were bare.

Holy mother of god,she was wearing nothing but a towel.

She was wet. She was mostly naked. She was sitting across my lap.

Tucker couldn't hide his attraction to Charlotte but he promised himself he would not sleep with his brothers girlfriend. He was there to find the flash drive, find the guys who were responsible for killing his brother and then go on with his life in South Carolina.

Charlotte felt a new spark for her boyfriend and was wondering why is she having all these new feelings for him now. She started seeing new changes in him and she liked it!

Tucker and Charlotte have some run ins with being robbed and Charlotte being held at gun point.

Tucker realizes that she is in danger now and he needs to do something fast.

Things start getting complicated and Charlotte is starting to think Maxwell is hiding something from her. Tucker is finding it harder and harder to keep his hands off of Charlotte.

As things start to heat up between them, Tucker needs to tell Charlotte what's going on.

Once things are revealed Charlotte break downs. She couldn't believe her being a lawyer that she couldn't see through what was happening. Tucker explains to her what he has to do to bring theses guys down and she has to play the part too.

Playing the part was not hard for these two. They had an instant attraction! Charlotte was starting to feel guilty because every time Tucker touched her or was around her she was giddy, had butterflies and it felt like she was on fire and he was the only one to put it out! After so much sexual tension between them they finally give in and agree to have just one night together, no regrets and no strings attached.

"This isn't going to be like the last time. I'm not going to take my time with you. I want you too badly. I want you here. Now."

Their one night of romance was erotic. Tucker was an animal! Charlotte had never had sex in so many ways and so many places! She was so use to scheduling sex for Saturdays. LOL!:)

She realises that her relationship with Maxwell was never exciting and she never felt these feelings she had before with him. She also felt guilty to even compare him to his brother. She was starting to think it was a mistake and she didn't know what to do. So she started to distant herself.

Tucker couldn't believe that he had the best sex ever with Charlotte. He knows he is feeling more because he cuddled her afterwards and found himself do things he never does after having sex with a woman.

At that point he didn't care anymore. He wanted to protect, cherish and worship her. She got under his skin. Tucker knew he shouldn't be doing these things with his late brothers girlfriend, but he has never felt this way before about a woman.

Tucker starts to pick up that Charlotte is distancing herself from him. He assumes she doesn't feel the connection they had. He chalks it's up and continues to try and find this flash drive so he can finish this and leave and she won't have to see him again.

Charlotte and Tucker end up finding the flash drive but it wasn't going to end that easily.

As soon as they find it they are captured and held hostage by the men who killed Maxwell.

Tucker does everything he can to protect Charlotte and seeing her get hurt by these guys just adds fuel to his fire. He ends up taking a bullet for her. Seeing him being shot brought up all her feelings for him.

While all this is going down the FBI finally show up. Tucker is rushed to the hospital and Charlotte is freaking out because she can't believe he took a bullet for her and shes not sure if he's going to okay.

I'm going to stop there. So you MUST read it now to find out how it ends!:)

This book was awesome! I was hooked! It had suspense, romance, tragedy. It was a great story!

I was a little hesitant when Charlotte jumped in the sack with Tucker.

I was like you can't sleep with his brother! That's just wrong!

By the end of the book I felt a little relieved. You will understand once you read it!

I also enjoyed the epilogue!

This was my first book to read out of the he Take Off series. This is Book 6 and they can all be read as a standalone! I can't wait to read more books by Cambria Hebert!

EXCERPT

Chapter 1 - Tucker
My mouth felt like it was packed with cotton. You know that dry but slightly sticky feeling? My tongue moved and it brushed against the roof of my mouth, and the cotton came with it.
I grunted and opened my eyes, only to immediately shut them again. I wasn't ready for morning. Shit, how much did I drink last night? My body was still heavy with sleep, my limbs not wanting to cooperate.
One of my arms was flung wide and I pulled it in to rub a hand over my sleepy face, hoping it would wake me up a little more. I knew I needed to get up… I just couldn't think of the reason.
Something shifted beside me and I felt the covers lift and drop. The soft sound of footsteps reached my ears. It wasn't a something. It was a someone.
I went home with someone last night.
Opening my eyes again, I glanced to my left in time to see a woman wearing nothing but a pink thong step into the adjoining bathroom and quietly close the door. Well, now I remembered the reason I went home with her.
Her ass was luscious.
Vague memories of last night filtered through my hazy, beer-soaked memory of skin against skin and a low seductive laugh. What was her name again? Veronica? Violet? Shit, I hadn't a clue.
Tossing away the covers, I swung my legs over the side of the mattress and looked down. I was buck-ass naked. I looked around for my clothes, which were lying in a pile near the door of the bedroom.
Must have been in a hurry to get naked. I smirked. I was always in a hurry to get naked. Especially when I was with a woman with an ass like that.
I glanced back at the closed bathroom door as the toilet flushed and the tap water turned on. That was my cue to leave. I had on my boxers and jeans before the door opened.
Rushing out the door with shirt in hand seemed a little immature, so I turned. And, man, did I get an eyeful. There was no way in hell her boobs were real. They were too perfect. Large round, creamy globes sat high atop her chest. They gave way to a flat stomach with a light-reflecting stud in her bellybutton. The pink thong was still in place but left little to imagination, and her long, tan legs stretched all the way to the floor.
Her hair was dark, her features exotic, and her lips were full.
Even drunk, I had great taste.
I motioned with my chin, a little what’s up gesture, and draped my T-shirt over my shoulder.
“Leaving so soon?” she asked, padding across the carpeting toward me.
didn't even pretend to not look at her chest. Shit, this had been a one-night stand. She could think I was a dog all she wanted. Hell, she’d be right.
‘Course, she clearly wasn't the type of girl to be offended by my wandering eyes. She walked right up to me, wound her arms around my bare waist, and pressed those perfect tits right up against my chest. Then she rubbed around like she was a cat and I was her scratching pole.
“Don’t you want to stay for breakfast?” she purred.
“Much as I’d like to, I can’t. Got somewhere to be.”
The woman whose name might or might not be Veronica pulled back and sashayed her ass across the room to a wooden nightstand by the bed. She bent at the waist, giving me the perfect view of said bottom as she scrawled something on a piece of paper.
I considered staying longer, but if I did that, she’d think this wasn't just a one-night stand. Girls were complicated like that. If our night stretched into morning, they got ideas. Ideas that maybe they would be the one to capture the guy no one else could. They would read something more into morning sex than the sex that occurred late at night when both our tongues tasted of beer.
I might sleep around, I might like a variety of ladies, but I never gave false hope where there was none. I might be a dog, but I wasn't an ass.
Sweet cheeks (I had to call her something) swayed her hips back across the room and held out a scrap of paper to me. “Call me,” she said, flipping her hair behind her shoulder.
I glanced at her chest one more time, then stuffed the piece of paper in the front pocket of my jeans.
She leaned up and pressed her lips to mine, slipping her tongue between. I kissed her back quickly and then slowly pulled away. Reaching around, I palmed her ass. “Thanks for last night,” I said and walked out of her bedroom without even looking back.
By the front door, I found my shoes and leather jacket and quickly finished dressing before stepping out into the cold morning air. I wasn't going to miss this cold. I was actually looking forward to moving on, trying something new.
A thin layer of frost covered the windshield on my truck. Instead of getting out and scraping it, I blasted the heat and let the engine idle, letting it melt on its own. While I waited, I pulled out the already crumpled piece of paper I was just given. Smoothing it out, I looked down, my eyes skimming over the number I was never going to call to look for her name.
I laughed and crumpled the paper back up and tossed in on the floor of the truck.
Rachel.
Damn. I hadn't even been close.
