Synopsis

Kaiya Marlow has always been cautious, precise in every decision she makes. When her dark past threatens to resurface, she decides to take precautions to protect herself by enrolling in self-defense classes at her gym.

Her instructor, Ryker Campbell, is the tattooed womanizer everyone warns about. Kaiya attempts to resist Ryker's advances, but the more time they spend training together, the harder it is for Kaiya to resist him.

Ryker's view on relationships is simple: strictly sex, nothing more. Haunted by demons from his past, he never allows himself to become attached to any woman. No attachment means no weakness, no vulnerability, no pain. He doesn't realize that his whole world is about to be turned upside down when Kaiya enters his self-defense class. Determined to have her, at least for one night, Ryker sets a plan into motion that will change both of their lives forever.

Will love be able to heal their scars, or are they too deep to overcome?

My Review

(Before I start my review I want to mention this book deals with sexual/physical abuse.)

Kaiya has had a horrific up bringing. Her past has turned her into a young woman who trusts no one.
She has one best friend from high school whose been by her side through everything along with her older brother Kamden that she lives with now. He was the ultimate big brother!
There bond was so sweet and he would do anything to keep his sister safe.

He was her rock! Other than them Kaiya leads a very closed off life and

she keeps all her emotions bottled up. She does have a guy shes known since college named Bryce that she occasionally hooks up with on her terms and rules! As Kaiya thinks she is doing the best she can moving on from her past, it actually comes back to haunt her and sends her into a frenzy!
Kaiya decides to enroll in a self-defense class at her brothers gym.
Kaiya had no idea the sexy and tatted instructor would be the one person who could heal her!

Ryker is a personal trainer and instructor. He loves the gym. It helps him take out his aggression and he can release all his emotions there. Ryker doesn't trust anyone. He knows how bad it hurts to be betrayed and he carries it around with him. He also knows how it is to have your heart broken into a million pieces.
So he is a one night stand kind of guy.
By keeping it that way with women he knows he won't get hurt.

He could careless about another women's feelings.

Little did he know a dark hair beauty was going to change all of that!

Ryker knew instantly when he met Kaiya that something was different with her then other girls he had met.
It might be because she turned him down when any other girl would jump his bones in a minute!
Ryker loved a challenge though! Ryker and Kaiya are partnered up for self defensive classes.

With all the touching, grabbing and maneuvers these two were hot for each other.

Kaiya was nervous at first because she doesn't like to be touched, but with Ryker she felt safe.
He always talked her through it and made her feel comfortable. Finally Kaiya decide to go out one night with Ryker and it was too hard to hide there feelings for each other. They couldn't keep there hands off of one another and as things started getting to heated Kaiya runs.
She knows she is damaged and she doesn't want to hurt Ryker.

"Well good luck because I'm definitely a challenge. I'll probably try to run again- will you keep chasing me?"

"Until you don't let me catch you anymore."

Ryker is completely caught off guard because all he ever wanted from women was a good time, but something about Kayia makes him want more but he's not exactly sure what it is. He learns that Kaiya is hurting and hiding from something and all he wants to do is protect her and see her happy.
As they see more of each other outside and in class Kaiya starts to think maybe she should let Ryker in and try. He has proved to her how much he wants to try things with her.

"Honestly, Warrior, I'm scared, too. I haven't felt this way about someone since...well, a really long time. I promise I won't hurt you if you don't hurt me."

Kaiya and Ryker break down each other's walls. They let each other in and expose their horrible pasts to one another. OMG!! Kaiya's is absolutely horrible! It will literally make you sick to your stomach.
Rykers wasn't as bad , but still it was messed up! I completely understood they way he was before he met Kaiya. These two brought the best in each other and you could witness the love between them blossoming. Ryker was amazing! Such a sweetheart and very thoughtful!
I loved him!!

Then one romantic night turned into a nightmare. Kayia's past literally shows up at her door!
I literally was gripping my kindle and kept telling Kaiya to keep fighting!!
I wanted to jump in and help her! It was horrible!! Right when I thought Oh No!! Please don't!

Then Ryker bursts through the door (literally). I was like thank you lord! :)

He ends up saving Kaiyas life along with her brother Kamden!
I was shocked to what both of them did for her.
But when you love someone you would do anything to protect them!

I really enjoyed this book! I was hooked from the beginning! I absolutely loved Ryker!
He wasn't your typical meat head and he had so much love to give!
I liked Kayia too, but I will admit I was getting frustrated with her always running! She did go through a horrific situation. It was absolutely heartbreaking.

And Kamden. Wow! He made me miss my brother! Everyone should have a brother like him!:)

I definitely recommend  this book!
