Synopsis

Beau Diesel…He was my “one”. My one that I would sacrifice everything for. My one that I wanted to be with until I took my final breath. My one that completed me.

I wanted him. I needed him. But he was off limits. I knew this, but the risk of consequences didn’t outweigh the depth of my desire.

So, I fought for our love.

But, I wasn't Beau’s “one”.

So, he fought against our love.

He fought so hard, eventually I had to give up. I had to admit defeat.

But, that’s the thing about love – when you’re down and out, true love wins. It prevails…and it raises you up.

**This is a stand alone novel, with a happy ever after**

My Review

Story... The story starts with Harlow hiding while she watches the boy she's always had feelings for get a BJ off some other chick. Beau comes off as rude and an asshole.

"Are all dicks that beautiful? If they are, I have no idea why men keep them tucked away." - Harlow

Six months later...

"He took my virginity. Then, he broke my heart. Then, he broke it again and again and again. This is our story." - Harlow

Five years later...

Harlow has been travelling and making sure to stay away from Beau. He hurt her by rejecting her 5 years ago. But Harlow's father falls ill so she has to come home and spend sometime with her father.

Beau is her father's right hand man and Harlow needs to get use to seeing Beau around a lot more now. There is a lot of sexual chemistry between Beau and Harlow and at times they both struggle to keep their hands off the other. But Beau says they can't be together.

"You fucking tear me up inside. You make me want things I should never have again. You make me feel."- Beau

Things are changing in Harlow's, father's business, which means that Beau might just get what he wants... Harlow. But first, things have to be finalised, then he needs to talk to Dom and get his blessing in being with Harlow.

Beau and Harlow finally find a place where they can both be together and be happy but outside forces force them apart again and have Beau second guessing if he can give Harlow what he thinks she deserves. Beau can't have history repeating itself.

"I want to know about those dark secrets that you keep locked in your soul. Don't think I can't handle them, Beau. I was made for you. I was made to help you carry the load of your sins. I'm strong enough to handle it, you just have to trust me with it." - Harlow

This is a standalone and yes there is a HEA... I was in tears at the end of this book. There was no way I thought I would cry through this book but that ending GAH!!! My heart wanted to leap out of my chest and high-five my kindle!!!!

The sex was also very well done and very HOT!!!! Majority of this book is in a bed, over a horse statue, against a wall lol! you get what I mean.

Now why it's 3 stars instead of 5... Just a couple of things, first in the book the heroine says she has dark hair but then the hero says she has blonde hair :/ then when the heroine hears her phone she says it's the ringtone for her work but then says she wished she could look at her phone to see who was calling her :/ little inconsistencies like that were through this story.

The beginning of the story, I felt like as if I had just walked into a movie halfway through and I was trying to play catch up on what was going on. I needed more information from both the hero and heroine to connect with them. If there is no connection then I am just kind of blah about what happens to them.

I'm trying to be very gentle in my criticism here because there were a few things I didn't like but I still really liked the plot and where the story was taken. At 13% I was sure I was going to love this book but unfortunately it didn't stay that way.

★★☆ 3 Stars ☆★★
