Synopsis

Nathaniel Morrisey thinks he has a handle on his affections for the one woman he’s ever cared about, Julia North, who happens to be his boss’s daughter and best friend’s little sister. But Jules is about to blow that calm self-control he's had a tight grip on all to hell.

The North brothers are wild, adrenaline-junky thrill-seekers who thrive on challenge, speed and danger. Their little sister, Jules, is a sweet, quiet, bookworm who’s been overprotected all her life by her hulking big brothers … but she is a North after all, so she has her own wild streak—a secret that none of them expected, especially not Nate!

Nate's desire to protect Jules—especially from himself and the overwhelming emotions he feels for her—have waged a war inside of him. He is plagued by painful secrets and shame because of a childhood full of abuse he knows he can never escape. How can he possibly love a woman like Julia North the way she deserves to be loved?

Julia North knows Nathaniel Morrisey is the only one for her, but with a past like a dark shadow, Nate's as turbulent as the wild horses he rides.

Will Jules be strong enough to hold on unconditionally, or will she decide it’s finally time to let go?

* This is a New Adult romance novel recommended for ages 18+ due to sexual content and mature language and subject matter.*

My Review

After reading book one in this series I couldn't wait for Jules and Nate story!

Julia North is the little sister of the North brothers. She has secretly been in love with her older brother’s best friend Nathaniel Morrisey for years, which is also her best friend’s brother! Got that! LOL. Jules is a shy, keep to herself kind of girl whose heart is secretly breaking because she wants the love and attention from the hot bull rider Nate.  She is so tired of watching him flirt with other girls and randomly hook up. After several attempts for him to notice her, she couldn't take it anymore and decides to confront him.

“What’s wrong with me? I know what I look like; I’m at least pretty as those girls you let hang all over you. Then why not me Nate? Huh? Why not me?”

Nate Morrisey suffers internally from the abuse his alcoholic dad did to him. His mom had never been part of his life either. He thinks he is not worthy of being loved and the one girl he does love deserves better than him. So he did what he had to and pushed her away in order to protect her. He is a hardworking and successful young man that buries his true feelings. Nate was caught off guard when Julia made her next move. He panicked and was scared so he knew he had to let her know how he felt.

I've always loved you Jules.”
“I don’t how to love you the right way. And I know you could do so much better than me…I've just been trying to protect you all this time.”

Seeing these two finally communicate their feelings was a relief. I will admit it was frustrating at times because I wanted them to do just admit their feelings. But in the end, I understood how Nate acted the way he did. Being told you’re not good enough and that he was a worthless all his child life can do a number on someone. Seeing the conflict Nate dealt with was heartbreaking. To see how he viewed himself was just so sad. I enjoyed watching Jules character grow. For her to be young, she knew what she wanted in life and she wasn't going to let Nate try and push her away any more so she pushed back.  It wasn't always easy for them but they never gave up.
Their story was beautiful. Nate was such a sweetheart who loved hard when it came to Jules. He finally was putting his demons to rest so he could be the man he wants to be for Jules. Jules proved to Nate she loved him unconditionally and that he was a worthy man. She was everything he needed and he was her steel to her flint! ;)

I love this series and I’m anxious to see who book 3 is going to be about. I loved Caleb’s girlfriend Piper! She is a force to be reckon with! LOL or even Jules older brother Sammy the hot NASCAR driver or Josh the MMA fighter! EEEEkkkk!  I can’t wait!
