Leah Thompson’s life in London is everything she's supposed to want: a successful career, the best girlfriends a bottle of sauvignon blanc can buy, and a wealthy boyfriend who has just proposed. But something doesn't feel right. Is it simply a case of ‘be careful what you wish for’?

Uncertain about her future, Leah looks to her past, where she finds her high school crush, Daniel Armitage, online. Daniel is one of London's most eligible bachelors. He knows what and who he wants, and he wants Leah. Leah resists Daniel’s advances as she concentrates on being the perfect fiancé.

She soon finds that she should have trusted her instincts when she realises she's been betrayed by the men and women in her life.

Leah's heart has been crushed. Will ever be able to trust again? And will Daniel be there when she is?

My Review

Faithful is Louise's debut novel and I must say for a debut she has done well.
What a sweet story! Faithful is a light contemporary romance based around two loveable characters and their busy lives in the city of London.

Meet Leah: She is beautiful, kind, sweet, caring,  driven and way too trusting. She is always trying to see the best in people even when she should be kicking their ass's to the curb. Leah has it all, or so she thinks. She has a fabulous career that is progressing well for her. She is an associate level lawyer at a law firm in London. She has supportive girl friends, a loving family and best of all an amazing boyfriend who has just popped the big question.  So why isn't she jumping for joy at finally getting everything she ever wanted?

Although I adored Leah,  sometimes I felt myself rolling my eyes at her thoughts and comments. She is not normally the type of heroine that I like best. She is a weaker woman, lacking self confidence. HOWEVER, I completely understand why she was thinking and reacting the way she was in certain situations. Her heart has been shattered, she has been betrayed by those who you believe will be be by your side supporting you forever. Of course this will leave you second guessing everything and everyone from then on. You can't heal that shit overnight. So for these reasons, I decided not to let her  silly thoughts get to me and affect how I felt about her too much.

And then there is Daniel: Daniel, Daniel, Daniel...What a sexy, bossy man. I have to say, I love me a bossy alpha. Daniel was definitely that. So thank you Louise for letting me experience all that is Daniel Armitage! The man is a successful, rich CEO of his very own company and he has got it goin' onnnnnnnn. The best bit? He could also be very very sweet to Leah. There are many swoon worthy moments with him in Faithful. Daniel is one of London's most eligible bachelors, but he doesn't seem to want just any beautiful single woman crawling around his feet, he wants Leah. She isn't available, she is off limits in more ways than one, will he pursue the sexy lawyer? Can he mend her heart and gain her trust?

Overall, there are a few things that caused me to rate this only three stars. I really, really did want to rate it higher because with a few small edits this book could of been AMAZING. My concerns were: I wasn't quite sure how I felt about the "cheating" in this book. The heroine is in no way innocent and I'm not usually a fan of my hero's or heroine's cheating on their other halves no matter what. Although they do not engage in a full blown affair,  I do feel they get involved in situations that I do NOT find acceptable when you are in a relationship. For some readers this will not bother them at all, for others such as myself it may be an issue. That is simply my personal preference. There are also a few spelling/grammatical errors in the book, I'm a grammar/punctuation/spelling freak, what can I say? I always notice those little things and they tend to bug me. Lastly, and probably one of the most important to me and i'm sure every other woman who loves a good raunchy read, the sex scenes!! They were good, but not great. They were short and somewhat repetitive at times and at now stage I felt all they were doing was having sex. Not that this is a bad thing! I just love well written, hot and erotic sex. With more variety and a little more detail these sexy bits could of been smokin' hot!

Faithful had some really amazing lines in it. It was for the most part, very well written. It may have all moved very quickly but It truly was a lovely romantic story about finding true love. It is full of love, lust, humour and so much more. The secondary characters also really made this book in my eyes. The character's we well developed and I thoroughly enjoyed reading Daniel and Leah's story. I can't wait to read Hopeful, the next instalment in this sweet series.

About the Author

I write sexy, romantic, contemporary novels - the kind I like to read!

Ruined by romantic mini-series of the seventies and eighties, I love all things romantic. There's not enough of it in real life so I'll settle for books and films.
I love the rain, the West Wing, London, days when you don't have to wear make-up, being alone, being with friends, elephants and champagne.
