My Review
Scarred by Love is the opening book in C.A Harms new series,
and holy crap does this series start with a bang. This book was amazaballs!! I
loved every minute of it and it had me from the first page. We are introduced
to the Parks family and their close group of friends. This book centralises
around Riley the only girl out of 5 kids. She is a wonderfully well rounded
character that can be soft and girly or rough and tough. And Zander, the only
question I have about him is where the hell can I find a Zander?? I loved the
writing style in this book, Miss.Harms gives us both points of views throughout
the entire book, which gives us the chance to see how each are dealing with
life.
Riley is introduced to us in one of the worst scenarios you
can imagine, she is in an abusive relationship and is in the middle of one of a
beating from her drunken boyfriend Parker. After he stops she makes the courageous
choice to leave. She runs to her brothers and they all surround her with
support and love, along with one brother laying a beat down on Parker. Riley
hides away ashamed that she let the destructive relationship go as long as she
did. But months later she decides to own her life again. She moves in with her
best friend Kate, who by the way I loved her too. She is the friend we all have
or are to someone.
One night they go out with Riley’s brothers to a party and
that is where she meets Zander. Zander is instantly intrigued by Riley, he goes
to make the moves on her and can’t believe when she brushes him off. Then with
some serious misunderstanding about his friendship with his best friend Beth,
Riley writes him right off. But then Beth comes to the rescue and explains that
she and Zander are just friends.
When Riley is invited to the bar to watch Zander’s band
preform, it is fireworks from the word go. Holy hell these two are hot
together. But Zander is also trying to heal from his own loss. He lost his mom
to cancer and is still carrying the burden of being the product of an affair. I
love Zander so much he is an amazing man. Even though he has his moments of stupidity,
he more than makes up for it with the way he loves Riley wholly and without
question.
Riley and Zander’s relationship is put through many tests
and angry words. They had me crying and yelling at my kindle over and over
again. But the love and uber heat these to bring was totally worth the
emotional rollercoaster I went through.
Along the way we are introduced to all Riley’s brothers and
Kate even begins to date one of them Carson. Their story is in the next book of
this series and holy crap if I thought I was emotionally drained from Riley and
Zander, Kate and Carson took me to a whole new level of a thrill ride.

My Review
The second book in this series is Broken by Love, here we
meet up with a very pregnant Kate and a disconnected Carson. We saw the way
Carson was in the first book but he takes it to a whole new extreme in this book.
The love that Kate felt from him is now gone, it forces Kate to make the
decision to leave Carson. She moves back in with the happy couple Zander and
Riley.
I was so heartbroken for her and wanted to junk punch
Carson. But with her leaving him it makes Carson realizes the flaw in his ways.
Carson makes it his goal to show Kate how much he loves her and wants her in
his life with their baby. Now I will say as mad as I was at Carson he totally redeemed
himself. Like I’m talking making your knees weak and saying the things every
woman wants to hear.
Kate is gun shy though and just doesn’t think love is enough
sometimes. But really who could resist Carson once he decides to get his head
out of his ass? Through shear will and love these two come back together and it
is beautiful. I admit I got choked up and was Carson’s number one cheerleader.
We also get a better look and Max, another of the brothers.
He takes asshole tendencies to a whole new level. He has a girl that loves him
whole heartly but is tired of being pushed aside and pulled back in at his convenience.
Even after Carson proves his love for Kate and they think that their happily ever after is going to happen, more dark clouds loom. Kate was never close to her family and always felt like a second class citizen to them, but when a dark secret is revealed it will rock her to the core.
But through it all Carson stands strong with her and is ready to do whatever he needs to to bring nothing but happiness to Kate and their baby. I really can't say enough about the 180 Carson does. I tell ya if he had been the man he becomes from the word go I would be hunting down a Carson as well..lol.
This book ends us in one hell of a cliff hanger and I for
one will be counting down the days to Max’s story. I will say though the best
part of Miss.Harms writing and the way she tells a story is that even though
each book centralizes around a different couple the others from previous
stories are still ever present. I was so happy to get a glimpse into how Zander
and Riley are doing and how their life is progressing together.
So really both these books are a must read and make sure you
all keen an eye out for Max’s story. I know I will be waiting and hoping that it’s
very soonJ
