Synopsis
He was trouble from the start, but I couldn't resist.
[She was the best kind of trouble. The kind that was so wrong, it felt right.]

I’ve tried and failed to stay away from him.
[I’ve done everything in my power to make her mine and keep her.]

He’s almost impossible to say no to.
[She never tells me yes.]

We’re always fighting.
[When we’re not fighting, we’re… well… making up.]

He makes me laugh so hard.
[I miss her laugh the most.]

I'm a liar.
[She knows the truth, but won’t admit it.]

Sometimes, I wish I'd never met him.
[I wish we could meet all over again. I'd do better.]

His girlfriend knows.
[The guy she’s with is a fool.]

I’ll never love anyone like I love him.
[She doesn’t love me enough to choose us.]

It was the wrong place.
[It was the wrong time.]

It should have been him.
[It will always be her.]

My Review
Oh, my gosh. I don't even know where to start. I am completely and utterly exhausted and feeling pretty emotionally damaged right now after this story! Jesus, what a roller coaster ride that was. Let me just start by saying, I have very mixed feelings about this book, however, the quality of writing from this author was fantastic regardless of my opinion about the storyline.

Now, did I enjoy this book? Overall, no I didn't, but before you stop reading, let me tell you why. Don't get me wrong, there were many moments that I did have a laugh at and many that made me completely swoon. However as a whole, this story annoyed the hell out of me more often than not. My emotions were all over the place, this was because of the hero, heroine and subject matter that the story is heavily revolved around. So the cheating/affair aspect of this book, there is no way around it so we might as well get straight to it. It bothers me of course, is it wrong? YES. I have never and will never condone it or enjoy dealing with that part of any story. In saying that, at the beginning I could handle it, I dealt with it and it didn't have me immediately putting the book down because I still found the heroine and hero likeable and wanted to find out more about them. It was around 25-30% into the story that I changed my mind about this. I had had enough. It was bullshit and totally frustrating, why? Because the heroine was completely unable to make up her damn mind on what the hell she wanted out of the now and her future. She got on my nerves much earlier in the book but I let it go, I kept going and while I am glad I did because it meant I got to read more from our hero and omgish did I fall for him, the heroine still frustrated me constantly. There is also a lot of back and forth in Bait, I did find this was one other thing that bothered me, I felt the progression at times was slow.

Bait is FULL of angst, lust, love, and so much more. It really will rip your heart to shreds and show you no mercy. If you enjoy stories that will pull at those heart strings and make you really feel something than I would recommend this book. For those who have issues with cheating/affairs, this one may not be for you. Also, there is a cliffhanger of sorts, so be warned about that. Miss Mabie has done a fabulous job at creating this well written, heart wrenching love story that leaves you wanting book two NOW!

About the Author
M. Mabie lives in Illinois, NOT Chicago, with her husband. She loves writing for Fifty5Cents Book Blog, which she owns and operates, usually poorly.
She cares about politics, but won’t discuss them in public. She uses the same fork at every meal, watches Wayne’s World while cleaning, and lets her dog sleep on her head.
M. Mabie has never been accused of being tight lipped or shy. She’s THAT girl.
(She doesn't usually speak in third-person, but surprisingly does when she's weirded-out about writing her bio.)

Synopsis
She can track down the world's most dangerous drug lords, hack into any computer, and kill a man in fifteen different ways—but when she comes face-to-face with the only man who’s ever held her heart, it might be her most dangerous mission yet... Or is it?

Sloan Walker. Dr. Felicia Santora. Agent L-55.
Three very different personas, three very different names, but all have one thing in common. They’re all controlled, acted out, and lived by one woman.

Her past has been long forgotten. Ten years have gone by since someone remembered the girl she used to be. The young girl with the big-brown eyes and beautiful dreams of happiness, dreams of love. She now lives a clandestine life. A life filled with top-secret missions and covert assignments. Only a handful of people know the true nature of her job. Her safety is constantly being pushed towards the brink of life-threatening danger.

Then one day someone unexpectedly steps back into her life…

A man who once owned her mind, body, and soul.
A man who held her heart in the palm of his hand.

He remembers. He knows.

And this knowledge could threaten everything she’s worked so hard for. Nixon West is as intelligent as they come and his Navy SEAL training has made him one of the most dangerous weapons in the United States Military. The moment she reappeared into his life he promised himself that he wouldn't let her go.

But the true question is…what extreme lengths will Nix go to for her?

She will soon face another mission.

And it will test everything.

Time never seems all that important until your life hangs in the balance.

Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock…

My Review
EEEEPPP! Alpha Male alert! Sassy Heroine alert! Yes, two of my favourite kinds of characters, put them together and you have one HOT story. Their love was beautiful, amazingly written and I enjoyed every moment of it. Nix and Sloane kept me entertained from the get go. I was so intrigued to read something a little bit different so I thanks to N.A for this fabulous book!

Covertly Strong has it all, its sexy, full of action, lots of sexual chemistry and plenty of good yet not over the top drama. You will fall hard for Nix, that is a given and Sloane, oh Sloane! I'm sure you'll adore this kickass chick as much as I did. Together, they are off the charts hot and totally loveable.

I loved this book, it really doesn't get much better than that. The only thing that brought my rating down from five stars was the fact the story is told in third person. It's simply not my favourite. The rest, completely awesome and luckily this is a series! Bring on book two.
