Synopsis
A girl with a dark history…

Avery Bresllin took a leap of faith when she changed her name. As Avery Patterson, she is no longer the daughter of a serial killer. No longer the girl who was bullied and abused through high school. A fresh name and a fresh start at Columbia University means Avery can leave all that behind. There’s only one thing marring her dream of a clean slate….

A boy with a past of his own…

Luke Reid has a lot going for him: sex appeal, badass tattoos and insane musical talent. Despite his guitar skills, his calling in life has always been to serve and protect. A NYPD cop by day, singer in rock band D.M.F by night, from the outside Luke seems like he’s got it made. But falling for a girl whose father was accused of deeply sinister acts—a man whom Luke shared a devastating history with, himself—only serves to complicated things.
Pieces of a puzzle….

Four symbols, four methods of destruction.
A trade.
Borrowed wings.
Dark secrets that threaten to destroy.

My Review
Winter by Frankie Rose was a refreshing change of pace to my usual reads. This intriguing YA novel peaked my interest from the first page. And oh the suspense! Although I found the story somewhat slow to begin with, once it picked up, boy did it take off. Frankie's writing skills are beyond fantastic in Winter. The story unfolds brilliantly and just when you think you've got it all figured out... BAM! Plot twist!

For the most part, Winter was an intense, angsty read that had me on the edge of my seat just waiting to flick over to that next page. All the characters in the book really played large roles in bringing this story together, they were well developed and interesting to say the least! Drama was everywhere in sight, but yet, not too over the top.

While I adored Luke, I can't say the same for Avery. Unfortunately, I can't say too much without giving away some of the storyline. So, what I will say is that while I did like her, she frustrated me at times. Her immaturity got the best of me and it did affect my enjoyment of her character's role.

Overall, Frankie Rose has succeeded at writing a suspenseful, intriguing romance that will have your mind ticking over at every corner, watch out for those plot twists! You will not see them coming!
