Disclaim is book 3 in the Deliver series. In Pam Godwin's dark and treacherous underground world of sexual slavery and absolution, she delves into Camila's story of retribution. A standalone that weaves a path through the first two books of the series, it can be enjoyed on its own but will hold more meaning if read after Deliver and Vanquish. Told with expressive writing, attention to detail, and events with hidden meaning, Disclaim is another fantastic addition to the series that has become one of my most favorite dark series ever.
Abducted and trained as a sexual submissive sex slaved years ago, Camila now helps her former captures, Van and Liv, as well as their significant others and all the other freed slaves to bring down all the sex slavery rings in the area. Being the first captured and therefore the first released, Camila has had years to deal with the tragedy in her life. Once she escaped her first phone call was to her former best friend and soul mate, Matias. As children they were inseparable but the horrors of life split them apart. Now she only calls him when she needs him. She hasn't seen him in years and even though she wants to, his secrecy about the people who took him all those years ago and what he does for a living now, makes it impossible for her to trust him. So instead of tarnishing her remaining happy memories with a reality that could ruin it all, she survives with knowing she can still have minimal contact with him. Yet she doesn't realize that Matias is on to her and is going to make it his mission to get her back. Whether she wants him to or now. With her plan to infiltrate a new sex ring as a slave, her world is turned upside in ways she never expected. But if she can learn to trust herself and those around her, her reality could be flipped on its head or it could lead to her utter destruction.
Every time I read a book by Ms. Godwin I am blown away by her ability to leave clues to the outcome but yet I never fully realize what's at stake until I'm hit in the face with it. Her ability to tell a story that keeps me guessing is proof to her ability as an author. Each story is unique yet each is sexy as sin and makes me question how something so dark and dastardly could leave me begging for more. Matias and Camila's story was not one I was expecting but it was emotional, passionate, and the epitome of the idea of creating your own fate. I loved it. I love this series. And I adore Pam Godwin.
